The Guide
What a Hot Tub Boat Is Actually Like
Warm water, cold air and the towers of Canary Wharf. What to bring, who can go, and when it is at its best.
A hot tub boat is a small motorboat with a heated tub built into it, and London’s sails round the docks at Canary Wharf for 75 minutes while you sit in warm water with a drink. It is the Hot Tub Boat Guided Historical Docklands Cruise from Skuna, from US$60 a person (checked October 2026) and rated 4.8 out of 5 from 79 reviews. A guide comes too, so between the jokes you learn how the docks worked and how they became a financial district.

Guests call it “one of my favourite activities this week” and “a fantastic and relaxing way to explore Canary Wharf”, and they name their guides. It is the one London boat trip that is better on a cold day than a hot one: the contrast between the water and the air is the point.
Is it really a jacuzzi on the Thames?
Not quite on the Thames. The boats sail in the docks around Canary Wharf, sheltered basins off the river built for 19th-century cargo ships, not out on the tideway. That is why it works: the water is flat, the boats are slow and nobody gets splashed by a river bus. You get the towers of Canary Wharf overhead and the old warehouse quays at water level, with the river a short walk away.
What to bring and who can go
Bring swimwear, a towel and something warm for afterwards. Heated changing rooms and flip-flops are provided, and the boat’s bar sells drinks and snacks, up to two drinks per person. No one under 12 can go, and pregnant women may not board. The ticket is per person, so expect to share the tub with other guests; the listing sells it as a way to meet like-minded people.

The GoBoat leaves from the same docks: an electric picnic boat for up to eight that you steer yourself. For a night out on the main river, the sunset speedboat leaves from the London Eye, and the Illuminated River tour sails from Tower Pier on Saturdays at 21:30 from September to May, under nine bridges lit by the world’s longest public art installation. What Hot Tub Boat Guests Say
"Cloe was a great guide. The tour was great. It was a real experience."
"Noah was an excellent tour guide. We were the only ones on the tour today, and he was very accommodating in answering our questions, helping us with logistics, and showing us the highlights of Canary Wharf. The hot tub was not too hot which was a relief in this weather!"
"Fantastic our guide was great and taught us a lot about the history of the building buildings"
"What an amazing experience. Had a great guide called Adam and he was full of lots of interesting facts and chat. Floating along Canary Wharf was so surreal, watching the hustle and bustle on land and relaxing in the tub. This is definitely something I’d do again and my teenage daughter really enjoyed."
"I had a great time with Eric as my guide and the others. The water was super warm, so it's definitely suitable for cold weather as well. I would book it again if I were in London."
"This was a great way to spend an hour in London. The hot tub is very clean and the water is toasty … so perfect for any kind of day. We went out on a Friday afternoon and lived chilling in the sunshine with a drink in hand. A great choice of drinks are available (not just champers as it suggests on the site). Kira was our captain and really looked after us from start to finish and was the perfect host. Would highly recommend."
"Great time! The guide was very friendly and answered all our questions. The tour was enjoyable. We were lucky to be the only two people on the boat. We'll definitely do it again!"

Hot Tub Boat FAQ
What to know before booking London's hot tub boat.
From US$60 a person on GetYourGuide, as of October 2026. That buys a seat in a shared tub for the 75-minute Docklands cruise with a guide. Drinks from the bar are extra.
No, it sails in the sheltered docks around Canary Wharf, off the main river. The flat water is what makes a floating hot tub practical. For the open Thames, a speedboat or a sightseeing cruise goes out on the river itself.
Swimwear, a towel and a warm layer for afterwards. Heated changing rooms and flip-flops are provided on the hot tub boat cruise; the towel and swimwear are not.
No one under 12 may board the hot tub boat. Pregnant women are not allowed either. With younger children, the Regent's Canal boats have no age limit, and the children's guide covers every option.
Yes, from the boat's bar, up to two drinks per person. Snacks are sold too. Drinks are not included in the ticket price.
Yes, and cold days are when it is at its best: the water is warm and the air is not. Check the calendar for your date, since departures vary through the year, and bring something warm for the walk back from the dock.
